Ugh. really tough day at work today, so I have a throbbing headache tonight. My head means I'm just not in the mood for any challenging music this evening, so a CD of Benjamin Britten's cello suites performed by Mstislav Rostropovich is playing very very quietly behind me. I'm sure there could be readers out there who feel most disgusted that I might consider this music "unchallenging" but tough, I don't care tonight ;) Its really beautiful though, a CD recommended to me by someone (probably an Irish someone though I don't precisely remember) and easily my favourite Britten recording. Today was an unusual day in that I didn't actually listen to that much music. Early this morning I began a piece of work I should have started long ago- transcribing three and a half hours of audio interview I did with John Wall last year into a first draft text, a piece of work that has been on the backburner for too long. With everything I have on my plate right now it will probably still be a while before the finished article sees the light of day anywhere, but I feel better for getting it underway.
